Newest member of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

Brandi Glanville
Last night, we were officially introduced to Brandi Glanville, the newest member of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

As innocuous as she seemed during Kyle's charity event, her one on one testimonials during the show let us see just how venomous she can be. Lovingly referring to her ex-husband, Eddie Cibrian, as a "douchebag", it appears Brandi does not have a filter. Intentional or oblivious, she seems completely unconcerned about anyone's opinion of her, almost relishing in it.

I'm not judging, I just call it as I see it. However, like many others before her, she'll probably blame it on editing.

Bravo to air Taylor & Russell Armstrong counseling sessions

Bravo TV has decided to air the marriage counseling sessions of Taylor and Russell Armstrong. Taylor's individual sessions will be aired as well, no one on one sessions with Russell will be shown.

Bravo made the decision to air the footage due to the fact that Taylor and Russell's marriage has been the dominant storyline for her this season. Bravo had initially decided to edit Russell out of this season completely, but has since reconsidered.

The frail and emotionally fragile reality star supports Bravo's decision. She feels this will help battered women to empower battered women to leave their abusive relationships just as she had.

The episodes will air in the next few weeks. Open and honest or in poor taste? What do you think?

R.I.P. Andy Whitfield

Andy Whitfield, star of the Starz Entertainment series "Spartacus," died in Australia yesterday at the age of 39. He lost his short, but courageous, fight with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He was diagnosed with the disease in March 2010.

Born in Wales, he made his home in Australia, modeling and appearing a number TV shows before being cast in his best known role in the Starz series "Spartacus: Blood and Sand." Whitfield played the title role of a soldier who leads a rebellion against the Roman Empire, becoming an instant hit.

After being diagnosed with the devastating disease, he underwent treatment in New Zealand. Shortly after starting treatment, he was declared cancer free, but suffered a relapse later that year.

His wife, Vashti, issued a statement confirming his death. "On a beautiful sunny Sydney morning, surrounded by his family, in the arms of his love wife, our beautiful young warrior Andy Whitfield lost his 18-month battle with lymphoma cancer ... he passed peacefully surrounded by love," the statement said. "Thank you to all his fans whose love and support have helped carry him to this point. He will be remembered as the inspiring, courageous and gentle man, father and husband he was."

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 2 Premier

In this season's opening episode, there was no shortage of fireworks. From the tiff between Adrienne Maloof's personal chef Bernie and Lisa Vanderpump to the palpable friction between siblings Kyle and Kim, it was clear this season will be the most dramatic yet. And joining the spirited 6 original cast members are supporting "friends" Dana and Brandi.

First, we have Dana Wilkey. Party planner to the stars and the person responsible for the $60,000 tea party Taylor Armstrong threw for daughter Kennedy's 4th birthday. But there is more to Dana than just her celeb driven soiree's. She graduated from USC with honors and is a successful entrepreneur. In addition to the party planning business, Dana also founded the Adwil Agency, a web application development company and product placement firm, and is an active supporter of various charitable organizations including: 1736, The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids organization, and IPalpiti. It will be interesting to see what kind of a reception she will receive from the existing members of the Beverly Hills clique.

Next up is a woman who's name you may not recognize but her reputation precedes her. Her name is Brandi Glanville, ex-wife of Eddie Cibrian who is best known for his role as Jesse Cardoza on CSI: Miami. For those of you who have no access to internet or TV, Eddie left Brandi to be with country phenom LeAnne Rhimes. Brandi's very public divorce and DUI arrest last October kept most gossip bloggers in business. If next weeks previews are any indication of what to expect this season, I'm pretty sure Brandi is going to be the most hated housewife yet.

"The Franchise" offers a never before seen look at the San Francisco Giants

Showtime's "The Franchise" Tues. 10pm
Whether you are a baseball fan or not, Showtime’s series “The Franchise” is one you won’t want to miss. This documentary shows us an up close and personal look into the lives of the players and families of the San Francisco Giants. Chronicling the 2011 season, we see the professional and personal ups and downs of the defending World Champions.

In the season opener, we are introduced to a cast of characters like Brian “Fear the Beard” Wilson, Pablo “Kung Fu Panda” Sandoval, Aubrey “Huff Daddy” Huff and Timothy “The Freak” Lincecum, to name a few. The team, plagued by injury, availed Ryan Vogelsort  the opportunity to come back up to the big league. Bouncing back and forth from the minors to the majors for the last decade, his story is a testament to his perseverance and dedication to the game.

The Franchise will make you laugh and tug at your heartstrings. There is not one episode that hasn’t caused me to shed a tear, none so much as the first episode. It shows us touching look at the Bryan Stow incident, his progress after the attack and the effect it has had on the players.

A visit with Bryan and his family from pitcher Jeremy Affeldt, father of two small children himself, inspired a speech regarding the Dodger Giants rivalry he delivered at the game that same evening. With both teams on the field, Jeremy addressed the crowd.

“We thank you for your love that you have shown them and your kindness both Dodgers and Giants fans. We appreciate you. And I don’t think I need to tell you guys about the Giants Dodgers rivalry, its one of the most storied rivalries in the history of the game. But when the last out is made, that rivalry ends on the field.”

Needless to say, this show is not just about baseball.
